FOUNTAIN BEER GREEN GOLD

The Green Gold beer fountain is a tribute to the hop heritage of the Lower Savinja Valley and Žalec, which is the center of hop growing in our country. Slovenia is also the fifth largest producer of hops in the world, and hops are the “spice” that gives beer its taste and recognizable note.

Purchase of mugs: Green Gold store at the rural market, Savinjska cesta 11, Žalec. Mugs can be purchased at the store no later than half an hour before the fountain closes. Price € 8.00 try 6 x 1 dcl of beer. Charges of 3 x 1 dcl or 10 x 1 dcl of beer.

JAMA PEKEL

Cave Pekel is a magical karst cave, full of interesting stalactites and stalagmites, which conjure up a series of interesting images in our eyes with a touch of imagination. As soon as we enter the cave, the image of the devil is revealed above the entrance. For millions of years, the Ponikvica stream ran along the plateau of the Ponikvan karst, penetrated through the limestone soil and created a magical karst cave in the middle of the Lower Savinja Valley. In winter, when the outside temperature is lower than the temperature in the cave, it is sometimes smoked from the entrance. That is why our ancestors were afraid of the cave and named it the Cave of Hell.

Guided tours of the cave are on SATURDAY and SUNDAY at 10.00, 12.00, 14.00 and 16.00.

Monday closed, and from TUESDAY to FRIDAY there are cave tours at 3pm and 5pm

On Saturday and Sunday, at 5 pm, experience the beauty of the underground of the karst cave Pekel only with lights. Bring them with you!

ROMAN NECROPOLIS

The Roman necropolis is an open-air museum where you can see the beautiful tombs of the Romans, which are the work of top masters of the time and are among the most important and best preserved monuments of the Roman era in Slovenia and Central Europe.

You can visit the Roman necropolis every FRIDAY and SATURDAY between 10.00 and 17.00 and SUNDAY between 10.00 and 15.00. Admission.

LIBRARY PARK RIBNIK VRBJE

The Vrbje pond lies south of Žalec, right next to the Savinja. It measures a good 13 ha and is the largest standing water in this part of the valley. The pond breeds warm-water species of fish – carp. The pond also has a rich flora and fauna. Among the latter, the birds stand out the most – over 170 species have already been observed here.

An interesting, 3 km long ecological learning trail runs around the Vrbje Pond, which is passable in all seasons. Along the pond, there are also some or some other thematic paths – hop path, path along the Savinja, heart path. You can also admire the open-air gallery – wooden sculptures created by Vinko Kovačec or you can observe the pond from the viewpoint.

PONIRK’S STATION near the Vrbje Pond is open: from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 12 noon, and between 3 pm and 9 pm, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 9 am to 9 pm.

SNOW CAVE ON RADUHI

The Snow Cave is open on Saturdays and Sundays and holidays from July to the end of August in the 2020 season. Due to favorable weather conditions, tours are also possible in September and October. The cave is accessible only in the company of a guide. Tickets and information for visiting the cave are available at the point of sale in front of the cave. We recommend that you reach the cave at least 15 minutes before the desired viewing hour.
